Dr. Thorsness is an excellent Surgeon. I was scared when I got the news that I needed to have my shoulder replaced but with Dr. Thorsness explaining everything, all the support from his team and the great therapy I must say that I have great range of motions, very little scare and work out everyday to get strength and be healthy. No more pain! Thank you Dr. Thorsness your the best!
Dr. Thorsness is truly an amazing doctor and surgeon. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him! He is thorough, takes the time to explain, and gives you options, opinions, and makes sure you understand everything. Highly recommended!!

Very professional but does take the time to listen to you and make certain you know all of the possible outcomes. My shoulder surgery was excellent. Dr. Thorsness and his staff took the best possible care both pre and post op. I would go to him again if I needed another operation.
I would highly recommend Dr. Thorsness. He is professional, friendly, and after a complete shoulder replacement procedure, I healed very fast. My physical therapist helped me with his range of motion and strength protocols, and I was three weeks ahead of where I should be with range of motion.
After having a reverse shoulder replacement I would highly recommend Dr. Thorsness to you. The entire procedure and recovery therapy, while inconvenient (bathing, therapy, etc.), involved very little to no actual pain. Dr. explained what was involved with this type of surgery and his aftercare could not have been better.
Dr. Thorsness have done me very well. At age 63, I thought my CrossFit days were over when I severely tore my left bicep and rotator from the moving accident. While fixing the mishaps he also took care of the chronic shoulder impingement, which in three months of therapy I’ve gained back a full range of motion. Now I’m back to my passion of CrossFit and I will compete next spring with high confidence. Next August, Dr. Thorsness, he will be taking care of my chronic right shoulder impingement.
My 17 year old daughter kept complaining of pain on her left side of her knee. It was devastating because her heart and soul is all about soccer and with her pain she couldn't play. A friend recommended Dr. Thorsness so we gave him a try. It was the best recommendation. I explained my situation to his staff member and they made sure I was scheduled right away. Dr. Thorsness was excellent and I thank him for bringing back that smile on my daughters face. She is up and doing what she loves most.
I was referred to Dr. Thorsness by another orthopedic surgeon in the Hinsdale Orthopeadic Group as being the best shoulder surgeon for me. I had already been turned down by other well known shoulder specialists in the Chicago area because of my many health issues. Dr. Thorsness never hesitated to help me. He performed a total shoulder replacement mid April 2018. I then completed six weeks of P.T. By mid August 2018 I was totally pain free with range of motion I hadn't had in over 20 years!
My 15 year old son broke his first bone (arm) playing football. Referred by Silver Cross Hospital. Setting appointments was easy and the staff was friendly. Both the New Lenox and Joliet offices are nice and the wait time to see Dr. Thorsness were minimal. The OR was clean, modern and was staffed by very nice people. It was his first real medical procedure and they put him at ease. Dr. Thorsness showed a real desire to provide care instead of just treatment. Cast is off and he is feeling fine.

Thank you Dr. Thorsness! I recently had rotator cuff surgery and am thrilled with the result. At first I was anxious about having surgery, but once Dr. Thorsness took the time to explained the procedure and what results I could expect, I decided to go forward. Best decision ever. I was told horror stories of the painful recovery, and yes the first week or so it was painful, but the pain management provided was excellent. Once physical therapy began the progress was fast and now I am 100%. I would totally recommend not waiting and go ahead you will not regret it.

If you are having trouble with your shoulder, Dr. Thorsness is who you want to see! No one wants to hear you need surgery especially rotator cuff/bicep repair. Prior to mine, I never heard a good story concerning this surgery. But I bit the bullet and trusted his advice. And I am so happy that I did! Six months out I am pain-free, just about full range of motion and hardly a scar! And I never needed pain medication! Don't hesitate, call him today!! He and his staff are truly amazing! You will NOT regret it :)

After 20 years I can now say that I am pain free in my left shoulder. My experience with Hinsdale Orthopedics and Dr. Robert Thorsness was one that each step in the procedure was explained to me for a complete left shoulder replacement. I had no gray areas of what to expect. From my first visit to my last the staff was very professional & at all times concerned about my well-being.
Dr. Thorsness is truly a gifted surgeon in shoulder replacement. My recovery was great with minimal pain the first days and then after that physical therapy which brought me back using my shoulder in a very short time.
The whole process was a very pleasant experience even though it was surgery I just wish I would have done this 20 years ago if not sooner.
I highly recommend Dr. Robert Thorsness & Hinsdale Orthopedics for giving me back the use of my left shoulder.
